Awareness Raising Workshop on Women's Health

Sylvana Paternite conducted an awareness raising workshop with Turkmen women in Sahab this past Friday. She covered essential topics such as nutrition and pregnancy. The 1.5 hour long session drew more than a dozen women, most of whom have either been pregnant or are currently pregnant. Sylvana conducted it in an interactive way with questions & answers, group work, and visual aids, i.e. pictures of different types of foods.

Women's health is an important issue for the Turkmen, but is often not addressed because of the taboos or stigmas attached to it. Sylvana has been helping Turkmen women in the community for a long time, providing her with helpful rapport for this workshop.

The women responded very positively to the workshop and said that it was "very nice".
